Acevedo to remain in Austin

It is fantastic news that Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo is staying in Austin. Acevedo has withdrawn his name from the Dallas finalist for Police Chief. Acevedo said that he belongs to Austin, and follows his heart. Acevedo has been in Austin for almost three years and is credited for various improvements in the Austin Police Department. Everyone from top Austin officials to Community leaders greeted his decision. His leadership is highly appreciated by everyone. City Manager Ott released the report, regarding Acevedo’s decision to stay in Austin where he has said, Acevedo's commitment to transparency and accountability has made the Austin Police Department one of the best managed forces in the nation.” Mayor Lee said, “He has done a service to the community; he has done a lot for the police force.”

It is not known if he received the formal offer from Dallas, but it is said that he had been negotiating salary and other employment terms. He has clearly indicated that the decision to apply for the position of Dallas Police Chief was not a sign of his dissatisfaction with the police department. When Dallas officials said in March that Acevedo was one of the six finalists for the Dallas Chief Position, the announcement had incited speculation that he might use the Dallas Offer to booster his salary. However, after remaining four days in Dallas finalist, he announced to quit and stay in Austin. Acevedo said that he enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to interview where he met chief officers and union representatives. In addition, he said he has not been for Austin in a full three years yet. However, citizens of Austin see him remarkably well.

Whatever reason he had behind announcing to be among the six finalists in the Position of Dallas Officer and withdrawing again, we appreciate that he has made up his desire to stay in Austin. He has been able to win the heart of Austin People in extremely short time through his moral and secure judgments and efforts. Many chief officers have appreciated his works and efforts to serve better. Finally, we got our Police Chief back in Austin, which is excellent news for everyone.

Response to my classmate's blog

As I was reading my classmate’s blog, it grabbed my attention. The issue was about the effect of drug policy on Texas-Mexico Border Violence. The author has said that the recent killing of three US Consulate members in Juarez has increased the violent behaviour in Texas-Mexico Border. In addition to that, he says that this is one of the serious issues of the Mexicans and Americans. US State Department has included Mexico in the list of Travel Warning because of long-term, protracted conditions. The crime has increased in Mexico and Texas because of the massive drug cartel. According to the Harvard economics professor, Jeffery Miron, the prohibition system has increased the illegal markets because the buyers and sellers cannot settle their disputes in the lawsuits. He has suggested for the legalizations of drugs despites of it's disadvantages.

The author’s intended audience is entire American and Mexican People. He has stated his perfect view of the issue he has been arguing for. He has enough logics and evidences to support his belief. In addition to that, he has taken advantage of the quote stated by different people in the related issue. I that the quote and the statistic had added more power in his argument. He has used enough facts and information to make his argument persuasive and relevant. He has not simply presented his opinion instead,he has strong argument with enough information. He has also used enough researched material for the related issue.

It is a well-written editorial with well-presented arguments. He has focused on the issue and included the relevant data and information. He has used enough logics and evidences. Texas Government in is increasing the security in Mexico border

Mexican Border Issue is a hot debate to everyone. People are always concerned about the security in the border side and Texas government has been very busy about increasing the border security to control the crimes increasing in the Mexico border. U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez has asked Gov. Ricky Perry to increase the Home Land Security Funds to the Mexican Border. Since the crime activities in the Mexican border have increased at alarming rate, Government is seriously acting on it to stop the crime rate and to provide the security to the people living in border. Recently, Rodriguez has asked $15 million in an additional federal fund to help the local authorities to pay for increased patrol and equipment. He hopes the additional resources will help to keep the community safe. He says that he has not been reported any spillover violence in a recent month. The security process has been increased as many residents had fear about the cartel thugs.

Now we can expect the mild and ineffective border security has been stronger and effective. The security at the neighboring Mexican border has been increased strongly as people living in the border have been troubled by drug cartels. As far as the security matter, recently Texas government has increased its security in those areas very seriously. We are well known about the drug related Issues in the Mexican Border, but we will soon get to hear about very tight security to stop those kinds of illegal activates. Controlling crime at the border is not going to get easier but at least efforts have been made. Let us pray we will not hear about any crimes or incident in the Mexican border every now and then.

“Applying for Food Stamp isn’t easy”, Audit says

As the title itself says applying for food stamp in Austin isn’t easy, it isn’t easy at all. There are various reasons behind it .The first reason is the excessive increasing of food stamp enrollment which is by 45 percent since March 2008.According to Stephanie Goodman, a spokeswoman for the Health and Human Services Commission, workers have had trouble in keeping pace because of such increment in Food Stamp Enrollment. He said that state has added 800 workers to catch up the work. Many people have state their unsatisfaction but, the state is trying to manage everything by hiring the number of workers to increase the work efficiency.

According to the report, the state is failing to process food stamp applications as quickly as required by the federal government. It offers suggestions on improving communication with applicants, better utilizing technology and improving clerical training. State Auditor John Keel said that people make unnecessary trips to the office and sometimes sit there for number of hours just to submit the application or to ask a question.

In conclusion, it is a well written article with well presented arguments. A bigger emphasis on the Texans problem who are applying for Food Stamp. The author has explained why the Austin State is failing to provide food Stamp application as quickly as required by the federal Government. He is successful in arguing that Texas Government is working on to satisfy the people’s need and solution to the people’s problem. He has well addressed the people’s problem from his prospective. Therefore, I think the Author has done good job by writing about the people’s problem and the effort of Texas Government to solve those problem.
